Spring is Finally Here!

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

I have blisters to prove that I did some gardening on the weekend. I'm thinking of trying a square foot veggie garden this year. One of my complaints with the traditional gardening method is getting in there when everything is overgrown and the tomatoes need to be picked. I'm hoping that planting less and spreading it out into square foot spaces will make it easier to access.

I plan to plant tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, pumpkins and some greens.

The weather is fantastic spring weather. Cool some days, warm other and lots of rain.

April showers bring May flowers and I can't wait for my perennials to start blooming. The front bed of my house is full of spring blooming anemones in purple and pink and I'm so excited!

Beth's Big 40th Birthday Bash

Sunday, April 17, 2011

I finally decided what to do for my 40th birthday! I'm having a down home birthday party at the local country bar. I'm so excited. I've got the cowboy theme built in and the manager has some great tables reserved for us. I'm going to buy myself a cowboy hat or at least a plaid shirt and now all I need is some ideas for party games. Got any?

Little House On the Prairie

Saturday, April 16, 2011

Mr. Boy was studying pioneers at school when I suddenly realized that he's probably old enough for the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I was a fanatic of Laura Ingalls Wilder when I was younger and I couldn't wait to to share my love of the stories with my kids.

Mr. Boy and Sweet Pea both read the first two books of the series and loved them. *Squee*

On a side note, Mr. Boy checked out the price on the books and they were $1.95 each! Yes, these are my original series of books from the 70's which I have saved for over 30 years.

Time for a New Car?

Sunday, April 3, 2011

I saw the commercial for this Kia Sportage and thought to myself "too bad we don't need a new vehicle right now - I'd buy this just for the colour!" The website version of this colour they call "citrus yellow" just doesn't do it justice.

Photo Before and Afters

Friday, April 1, 2011

I took the photos from the sugar bush and applied Becky Earl's fantastic workflow. The first time I tried this, each photo took me over 30 minutes. This time, it was about 10 minutes each.

I just submitted these for printing and got 8X12's printed at Costco. I don't have frames yet, or a place to hang them, but at $2 per print at Costco, there's really no risk.
