Basement Reno Before and Afters - Part 1

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Here are some of the before and after photos of our basement renovation.

Here is the location of the laundry tub before. We had the plumbing moved so we could push the powder room into where the storage room is in the photo (at the back). The bar now occupies all the space between the two stud walls in this photo. All of the studs were removed and we gave some away and DH used some to build shelves in the garage to store our camping equipment.
The column (below) houses the re-routed plumbing for the bathroom, a drain/sewer vent for the kids' bathroom upstairs, and the plumbing for the sink in the bar. The half wall has a phone outlet, as well as rear speaker cables, which DH ran through the wall before the drywall went up.
The bar, as viewed from the other side. The laundry tub was once where you now enter the bar. The half wall can be seen on the right side of this photo.
The playroom started out as a dismal storage area where we kept the freezer and everything else we didn't know what to do with.
We put a wall on the right of this area, for the spare bedroom, replaced the windows, and finished this area to be used as a play room. We had these blue bookshelves upstairs in the family room to house the kids' toys. The kids set up a fort here.I don't really have any 'before' photos of the powder room because it was part of the storage room before.
It is a two-piece, nice and roomy, with a custom bamboo vanity, a dual-flush toilet and the most flattering light you can imagine.

Come back next week for photos of the rest of the basement, include the pi├Ęce de resistance, the TV room!
